14-time Sidecar TT winners presented with 2023 Segrave Trophy
Sidecar TT duo Ben and Tom Birchall have received a prestigious award from the Royal Automobile Club.
The 14-time TT winners from Mansfield have been named as the 2023 recipients of the Segrave Trophy after becoming the first sidecar crew in history last year to lap at over 120mph at the TT.
The accolade recognises those who show a 'spirit of adventure for the outstanding demonstration of skill, courage and initiative in transportation on land, water or in the air.'
First awarded in 1930 and named after pioneering racing driver Sir Henry Segrave has been won by some of the greatest motorsport figures of all-time.
Numerous TT competitors have won the trophy over the last 94 years including Mike Hailwood, John McGuinness, Joey Dunlop, Carl Fogarty, Geoff Duke and John Surtees.
In December 2023, Tom Birchall announced his immediate retirement from racing whilst Ben has continued competing and appeared at this year's TT with a new passenger in world championship rider Kevin Rousseau.
The pairing finished second in this year's Sidecar TT Race 2 having missed the first race due to having to recover from a minor incident in qualifying.
