Manx Missile won record-breaking 35th Tour de France stage in July
Sir Mark Cavendish will receive the lifetime achievement award at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony.
The Manx Missile won his 35th Tour de France stage in the summer, becoming the most successful cyclist ever at the event.
He confirmed his retirement at the end of the season.
