Mark Cavendish will go again today (Monday) after a 12th place finish on the opening stage of the Tour of Britain.
The Manxman was boxed in during the closing stages and could not trouble eventual winner, Italian rider Elia Viviani, who timed his sprint perfectly to beat Cavendish’s team-mate Alessandro Petacchi to take the 208-kilometre leg.
Today’s 186.6km second stage is between Carlisle and Kendal.
