Manx Missile also thanking 'incredible' hospital staff

Mark Cavendish appears to be in good spirits after being involved in a crash at a competition in Belgium last weekend.

The Manx Missile came off his bike during the Six Days of Ghent contest.

After being treated by paramedics at the scene and getting to his feet, he was later admitted to Ghent University Hospital for further checks.

His team - Deceuninck-QuickStep - later confirmed the rider suffered two broken ribs on his left side and a small pneumothorax, a collapsed lung.

Cav has since take to social media saying how 'overwhelmed and thankful' he is for the support he's had following the incident.

He adds 'a couple of nights' with the 'incredible' hospital staff should 'sort me out'.
