Thriller at Port-e-Chee
Douglas B edged out defending champions PDMS Southern Nomads 30-28 at Port-e-Chee in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield on Saturday.
A blistering first half saw the hosts lead 20-0 at half time, thanks to tries from Mark Howarth (two), Andy Vernon-Brown and Nathan Knights.
In the second half, Howarth completed his hat-trick and Knight ran in a second to push Douglas clear.
However, Nomads showed their character and fought their way back into the match with a Gerard Landels hat-trick, a try from Rob Keelan and four Mark Young conversions - but it wasn’t quite enough.
Ramsey B remain top of the standings after they saw off Emerging Nomads 31-17 at King William’s College.
Jordan Walsh and skipper James Wren both bagged a brace for Ramsey with the radar boot of Jack Caine kicking four conversions and a penalty for a 100 per cent record off the tee.
