The Sports Consultancy has been appointed by the Manx Government to study whether an Isle of Man TT World Series is a workable idea.
The London-based organisation has expertise in commercial development of major sports events, including the Olympic Games, Ryder Cup and Formula One.
It was announced prior to this year's TT that the Department of Economic Development was looking into the possibility of running races elsewhere in the world, under the banner of the Isle of Man TT.
Sports editor Tim Glover reports (text, below, from attached audio file):
The government is looking to cash in on the increased popularity of the TT in recent years, in terms of visitor numbers, wider worldwide television coverage and the success of the TT 3D movie.
The Sports Consultancy will now look at possible venues and the feasibility of establishing a series.
The stated aims are to explore potential new revenue streams and provide a platform for the Isle of Man to promote itself and its associated businesses and services.
