Cricket: IoM Women looking forward to Cyprus series challenge

They'll face three other nations in four-team competition this weekend

The captain of the Isle of Man Women's national cricket team says they're looking forward to a new test across Europe this Easter.

The Manx side will be in Cyprus from Friday to Sunday (18-20 April) to face Cyprus, Denmark and Jersey in a four-team series.

It's also expected this event will form part of the Isle of Man's preparations for their debut in the ICC Women's World Cup Qualifiers in Italy next May.

Their captain Alanya Thorpe reckons this weekend's matches will be a good test against opposition they've not come across before:

In total, 14 players will represent the Isle of Man at the event including two debutants.

It was announced last week that Georgie Ford and Lola Hornby-Wheeler will join the squad for a competitive set of fixtures for the first time.

Since its inception the team has already scooped a number of international honours.

The most recent of those saw them win the Valletta Cup in Malta in August 2024.

Next month they'll head to Rome for the world cup qualifying stage - there they will contest the Europe Qualifier Division 2 from 25-29 May.
