Manx elite rider revealed Epstein-Barr diagnosis in February

Manx elite cyclist Lizzie Holden has returned to competitive racing following a spell out due to illness.

The 26-year-old was part of the four-strong UAE Team ADQ squad which contested the 2024 Paris-Roubaix Femmes in France on Saturday (6 April).

The Island-born rider went on to finish 67th overall in the one-day event.

Her teammate Chiara Consonni was the team's highest finisher during the race in 30th despite being involved in a crash and suffering two punctures.

It was Holden's first competitive outing since announcing she'd been diagnosed with an Epstein-Barr infection back in February and her first race since 21 January at the Trofeo Palma Femina in Spain.

Elsewhere earlier this year, Holden was also crowned 2023 Isle of Man Sportswoman of the Year and inducted into the Isle of Man Sport Hall of Fame.
