Vagas men lose but women win away
In Rugby, Douglas hopes of two from two were dashed when they lost 36-15 away at new boys Bowdon in North One West.
Carl Murray and Ben Klaassen also crossed for what was his first try for Douglas. Bryn Snellgrove’s boot added a penalty and a conversion.
Vagabonds first road trip of the season ended in a 22-14 defeat at Old Bedians.
Ryan Keane and Ben Owen both went over early on for Bedians, a penalty extended the lead and a Jim Whyte try saw the Manchester side 22-0 in front.
Vagas finally arrived at the party and a penalty try saw them turn around trailing 22-7. Steve Gawne’s try, converted by Johnny Beckley was the only score in the second half.
Vagas Ladies came out 38-36 on top in a high scoring affair at Leigh.
Vagas were 21-7 up at half time and hung on in the face of a fierce fightback.
Isla Curphey went in twice for Vagas as did the ageless Rachel Beckley.
There were also tries for Jules Harrison and new signing Emily Webb with Sammy Macdonald adding four conversions.
