Vagabonds downed at Hoylake
Douglas maintained their solid form in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One with a tight 31-28 win away at Glossop.
They were ahead 16-10 at the break, courtesy of an Adam Boyd try and three penalties from Bryn Snellgrove.
In the second half, Conor Stephens and Lance Wyllie both picked up tries for Douglas with the in-form Snellgrove converting both and adding his fourth penalty of the game to keep his side just in front of the hosts.
Vagabonds’ recent resurgence came to an abrupt end at Hoylake in Division Two where they lost 50-7 to the recently relegated side.
The returning Sam Games picked up Vagabonds’ only try.
They face fifth placed Liverpool Collegiate next week at Ballafletcher as they flirt perilously close with the drop zone.
Ramsey won 52-13 at the Mooragh Park against Ellesmere Port to keep up the pressure at the top of Division Three.
Skipper Dan Bonwick scored a hat-trick for Ramsey and kicked six conversions in a fine individual performance.
Number eight John F Watling added two tries and there were also scores from Nathan Thompson, Jim Lantry and Dale Radcliffe.
