Flag down on lighthouses challenge

Social cycling meet gets underway

More than 400 cyclists will be on the move around the Island's roads today.

The sixth annual Microgaming Lighthouses Challenge sets off from the Grandstand at 8am.

The course takes competitors down Bray Hill, along Peel Road and South Quay, and up to Marine Drive via Douglas Head, before heading south and then up the Sloc to Peel.

The route continues north after that, and returns to Douglas along the east coast this afternoon.

Organisers are advising motorists to watch out for small packs of riders.

No public road closures are in place.
