Football: Bass hoping for good test in first national team fixture

Island team faces Halewood Apollo in Liverpool today (26 Apr)

The Isle of Man men's national football team's player/manager says he hopes the first match he'll take charge of this weekend will be a good test for he and his squad.

As part of preparations for this year's Island Games, the Manx side have travelled to Merseyside to face Liverpool-based side Halewood Apollo today (26 April).

A prominent player in recent years in the Island game, Chris Bass jnr. took up his new managerial role on a caretaker basis following the resignation of Blane Slattery in January.

As well as relishing this weekend's challenge, he believes the squad they have now and for this summer's trip to Orkney has a number of positive qualities:
