Fundraising campaign launched for injured MGP rider

GoFundMe started to help with financial situation during recovery

A fundraising campaign has been launched to support a Manx Grand Prix rider injured at this year's event.

Chris Moffitt was involved in a serious incident at Ballacrye during the second lap of the Junior MGP race on Saturday, 24 August and has been updating followers on his recovery progress in recent weeks.

The competitor says his sick pay has now ended - his brother has set up a GoFundMe page appealing for donations to help Moffitt financially as he continues his rehabilitation.

As of this morning (12 December) more than £1,700 of the £5,000 target has been generated.

In a previous update last week, Moffitt stated he's spent more than seven weeks at the Sid Watkins Rehabilitation Centre at the Walton Centre in Liverpool after previously spending five weeks at Noble's Hospital on Island.

His recent rehab has included intensive physio; occupational therapy; psychology and speech & language therapy.

The description of the fundraising mission says: "Chris Moffit, a dedicated motorcycle racer from the Isle of Man, suffered severe injuries in a crash during the Manx Grand Prix, resulting in an ongoing recovery process at the Sid Watkins Centre in Liverpool.

"After weeks of intensive treatment and rehabilitation, Chris is making progress but faces a long journey ahead, requiring extensive physical and mental therapy, along with visits to a hyperbaric chamber.

"With his sick pay coming to an end soon and over a year needed for recovery, Chris, who is not one to ask for help, now needs our support.

"A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to alleviate his financial stress so he can fully focus on his healing journey."
