Manx team expecting tough test in Ulverston tomorrow (7 August)
The Isle of Man men's golf team will take on top English opposition tomorrow (7 August) in one of the major events on the Manx golfing calendar.
A six-strong Manx squad is taking part in the 2024 Northern Counties Golf Union Men's Qualifying Championship being held at Ulverston Golf Club in Cumbria throughout Wednesday.
It'll see them face host county Cumbria as well as teams from Cheshire, Lancashire, Durham, Northumberland and Yorkshire.
Making up the Island team will be Darryl Callister, James Arneil, Chris Kneen, Mark Sutton, Liam Cowin and Joe Raeside with the 36-hole competition due to get underway at around 7.30am tomorrow morning.
The winning county will then go on to represent North of England later in the year.
Heading into this latest challenge the Isle of Man has been getting some preparation, taking part in a tournament in Carlisle on Sunday (4 August).
Callister - captain of the Isle of Man side - is expecting a tough test but remains optimistic about getting some positive results:
