Report by Ben Cunningham:

After months of hard work in pre-season and pre-season friendly matches it’s finally here! The start of the 2025/26 Manx hockey season which kicks off with the mixed leagues as well as the hotly-contested Under-15’s league.

The Mixed Premier League will be played out between eight teams with a split after all the teams have played each other once, the top four will play each other again whilst the bottom four will play each other.

Bacchas A - the current champions face - newly-promoted side Castletown Southerners which will be interesting to see how they get on with life in the top flight; Valkyrs A will be hoping for a better mixed season this year when they kick off their season playing Bacchas B; Harlequins A meet Castletown Celts in what looks set to be a close match; finally, we have a club derby between Vikings A and Vikings B.

In Mixed Division One, this league sees just six teams and no split happening at the half way point.

Last year's Division Two champions, Harlequins B face Vikings C; Ramsey A - who will be hoping to get back up to the premier league - welcome Bacchas C to the north of the island; elsewhere, we have a western derby between Valkyrs B and Valkyrs C.

In Mixed Division Two, this league again sees six teams with no split again at the hard way point three of the teams in this league are from Castletown.

Ramsey Ravens play Bacchas Colts, two very evenly-matched sides last year; Castletown Cushags will play Vikings D and we have a southern derby between Castletown Cammags and newly-promoted Castletown Cosney.

In Mixed Division Three, we welcome a newly formed side in Harlequins D who will make up one of the eight teams in this league with a split at the half way point with the top four playing each other again whiles the bottom four will play each other again.

Vikings E - who just missed out on the promotion last year - play Harlequins C; Bacchas D - another team that just missed out on promotion last year - begin their season by welcoming Ramsey Rookies to Douglas; Valkyrs D - who were relegated from Division Two last year - play Bacchas Mixed Bucks; finally, Castletown Carrick will be the first team to play Harlequins D.
