Report by Ben Cunningham:
Hockey is back for 2026 and focus now turns to the men's and ladies leagues as well as the U15’s league continuing.
In the Men's Premier League, Bacchas A will be hoping that they can get off to a winning start when they play Castletown A who will be looking to have a good season again this year.
A close match between two very evenly-matched sides is on the cards as Valkyrs A welcome Harlequins A to the west of the island with Harlequins hoping they can continue to test the top teams.
Elsewhere, we have a club derby between Vikings A and Vikings B - the A team will be wanting to make sure they are in the title race this year.
In the Ladies Premier League, the defending champions, Castletown A start their campaign playing the only team that managed to take points of them last season, Bacchas A.
Harlequins A play Valkyrs A in a match that could be close; Vikings A - who will definitely be looking to make up for their season last year - play Castletown B who are back in the top-flight following their promotion last season.
In Men's Division One, last years runners-up, Bacchas B whilst another team that will be looking at the promotion will be Ramsey A, they play Castletown B who could give the northerners a good test.
Finally in this league we have a western derby between Valkyrs B - another team I think who will be fancying their chances at the promotion spot - and Valkyrs C who were promoted into the second tier.
In Ladies Division One, a close match could be on the cards when Bacchas B play Vikings B; Valkyrs B - who I think will be looking at challenging for promotion - play Castletown C; Bacchas C, who were promoted last season, have a tough test in their first match when they play Ramsey A.
In Men's Division Two, newly-formed side, Harlequins C begin their campaign playing last years runners-up Vikings C; another newly-formed side, Ramsey B start with a trip to the south of the Island to play Castletown C.
Finally, another club derby, this time it’s between Bacchas C and Bacchas Colts.
In Ladies Division Two, Ramsey B face Castletown D whilst Vikings C play Harlequins B in the late fixture.
