Report by Ben Cunningham:

Five big finals take place this weekend at the NSC with the first one taking place this Friday evening at 7pm, in the ladies cup Castletown A - the current holders of the cup - play Bacchas A.

These two sides have been very evenly matched in the ladies premiership with Castletown just finishing ahead of Bacchas, I’m sure this final will be very close and Castletown will want to make sure they can keep their hands on the cup for another year however Bacchas will make sure they give the southerners a good test.

Saturday sees the remaining finals take place at the NSC - the first one of the day is the Ladies Bowl between Castletown D and Ramsey B at 11am.

Looking at the league form for both sides Castletown had a fantastic league run going on to take the Ladies Division two title, Ramsey came runners-up in that division taking the runners up spot on the final day of the season with victory over Harlequins.

The northerners will be hoping they can stop Castletown getting the double but with the form the southerners had in the league it’s going to be a hard task to stop them.

Second game starting at 12.30pm is the ladies plate between Vikings B and Valkyrs B - Vikings B just missed out on taking the ladies division one title by goal difference with Ramsey A just taking the title from them.

As for Valkyrs B they had an up-and-down season but their form towards the end of the season did come good and they were giving the top sides in the league a challenge, this will be a very close match and both sides will be wanting to get their hands on the plate and I think this could go all the way to a penalty flick shoot-out.

Our third game of the day at 2pm is the Mens cup which is Vikings A the newly-crowned league champions take on Bacchas A.

Vikings A pipped Bacchas to the title on the final day of the season taking the trophy for the first time in over 35 years and will be definitely wanting to round off the season with taking the cup.

Bacchas A are the current holders of the cup and will want to make sure they keep their hands on it after they missed out on the league title - this will be a very competitive game and will have a very fast tempo and another game that could potentially go to a penalty flick shoot-out.

The final final of the weekend is the Mens Plate at 3.30pm between Vikings B and Castletown B, looking at league form Vikings B had the better form finishing mid-table and as for Castletown they were in the relegation battle right to the end of the season in men's division one but did manage to stay up in this league.

Castletown will definitely be up for this and will look to cause a cup upset by getting one over Vikings but it will be interesting to see what side Vikings put out on the day as when playing cup games, once you place for a team you are them only eligible to play for that team only.

All these games take place at the NSC and I would really urge you if your looking for something to do this Friday evening or Saturday afternoon to come on down and have a watch of some of the final action as it will be a fine example of what fantastic talent we have in Manx hockey and the atmosphere will be amazing!
