Manx squad hit three in strong showing against Newcastle
The Isle of Man ladies hockey team have progressed to the semi-finals of an England Hockey Championships tournament after an important victory at the weekend.
Taking part in the EH Championship Tier Two quarter-finals on Sunday (12 March) they went on to beat a strong Newcastle Ladies 1st team 3-1.
The Manx side got the first goal of the game two minutes into the contest through Kim Carney before Newcastle pulled one back to take the clash to half-time at 1-1.
After that, the Isle of Man squad then took things up a gear as Carney put the Isle of Man 2-1 up on 55 minutes before they made sure of the victory three minutes later as Sarah Blackman added a third from a penalty corner.
The Isle of Man squad will face Repton 1sts away in the semi-finals on Saturday, 15 April, with a push-back time to be confirmed.
