Manxman among cohort of aspiring newcomers
2023 Senior MGP winner and Manxman Joe Yeardsley is expected to make his North West 200 debut this year.
The Laxey man was one of 12 aspiring newcomer riders who attended a recent two-day induction course at the Triangle circuit with fellow Island racer Jamie Cringle also part of the group.
28-year-old Yeardsley is currently expected to contest the Superbike, Superstock, Supersport and Supertwin races at Portrush from 5-10 May.
Should the Isle of Man racer take part in the meeting, it would also come less than 12 months after making his Isle of Man TT Races debut in late May and early June 2024.
He's been quoted as saying: "The reason I haven’t raced at the North West 200 before now was down to finance."
"But I got an invite this year from Mervyn Whyte and now that I am working with Trevor Scott it is possible this year.
"It is going to be a big learning curve but I am here for the rest of this week and will be doing laps of the North West course with Glenn Irwin."
Yeardsley and the rest of the cohort of newcomers were part of an induction process which included classroom sessions and guided laps of the 8.9-mile course with 11-time Superbike race winner, Glenn Irwin and rider liaison officer, Steve Plater.
Among the other possible first-timers to the races who attended the courses was BSB regular Barry Burrell and former Mondello Park Supertwin champion Darragh Crean.
