Gerrard wins Parish Walk in record time
Three is the magic number for Richard Gerrard.
For the third time in four years, he has won the Manx Telecom Parish Walk.
After setting a record-breaking pace in the early stages, he was always in control and went onto make history, completing the 85 mile course in a time of 14 hours, 40 minutes and eight seconds – two minutes, 24 seconds inside the previous best which he shared with Vinny Lynch in 2012.
He was thrilled with his success:
2013 winner Michael George was second in a time of 15 hours, four minutes and 44 seconds.
Last year’s runner-up David Walker completed the top three in a time of 15.39.16, eight minutes ahead of Lynch in fourth (15.47.25).
Janette Morgan was the first female finisher, and was ninth overall, in a time of 16.38.14.
Karen Chiarello was second, Stephanie Quayle third.
