Manx Grand Prix Classic Senior Top 20 confirmed

Herbertson to lead the way at No.1 this year

The Manx Grand Prix has revealed the Top 20 riders to compete in this year's Carole Nash Classic Senior race in 2023.

There are some changes in the running order for this year's contest, scheduled to take place over four laps on Saturday, 26 August at 2.40pm.

One of the movements is at No.1 where Dominic Herberston will begin top of the running order - the previous front man, John McGuinness moves back to No.3 with the space at No.2 vacant this year.

Meanwhile, Jamie Coward is penciled in at No.4 but remains a doubt to compete currently after sustaining injuries in a bicycle crash late last month.

James Hillier slots in at No.5 on the CSC Racing/IMS Yamaha - there's then another gap at No.6 before Mike Browne - who secured third in this race in 2022 - is at No.7.

Making up the rest of the top ten from numbers eight to ten are Alan Oversby, Rob Hodson and Michael Rutter.

Behind them is another vacancy at No.11 with James Hind, Michael Sweeney, Derek Sheils and Pierre-Yves Bian occupy numbers 12 to 15.

The remaining top-20 members see Michael Russel at No.16; Hefyn Owen at No.17; Shaun Anderson in No.18 and Gary Vines at No.19 with another gap then at No.20.

Last year's winner of this race, Lee Johnston, will be absent this year as he continues his recovery from a crash at this year's North West 200 in May.

The 2023 Manx Grand Prix will take place from 20-28 August.
