Athletics team shines on opening day of annual event
The Special Olympics Isle of Man squad bagged a flurry of medals during the opening day of this year's Gibraltar National Games yesterday (20 September).
Following last night's opening ceremony at the Lathbury Sports Complex, it was the Isle of Man's athletics team who got the action underway.
During the evening, there were two gold medals for Ethan Butler in the 200m and 100m whilst there was also gold for Jamie Hardy in the 100m contests with Hardy also securing a silver in the 200m.
The night was rounded off with more medal success as the Isle of Man's 4x100m relay team took gold in their event in a time of one minute seven seconds.
Today (21 September) sees the Isle of Man's bocce and football teams in action.
The annual games in Gibraltar are running until tomorrow (22 September).
