Nomads keep top spot

Southern Nomads beat their own second team Emerging Nomads 53-7 at King William's College to maintain their place at the top of the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield.

The Landels brothers were the undoubted stars for the reigning champions with five tries between them, Leon with a hat-trick and big brother Gerard with two.

There were also tries from Rob Keelan, Dan Bridle and Harry Catlow with four conversions from Mark Young as Nomads stayed top with a game in hand to boot.

Emerging Nomads’ consolation try came from birthday boy Dave Prince, which was converted by Adam Young.

Douglas B put in a dominant performance to keep the pressure on Nomads, defeating Castletown 77-7 at Port-e-Chee.

Jack Moore bagged a hat-trick for Douglas, there were two tries from Mark McGee and Charlie Henthorn and single tries for Carl Conroy, John Bateson, Nick Horsthuis, Mark Dimsdale, Craig Lea and Dayle Collister.

Castletown worked hard all game and picked up a consolation try right at the end when Patrick Evans crashed over. His try was converted by Tom Watterson.
