Bonus point victory for Douglas in North One West
Douglas claim maximum points at Keswick
Douglas claimed their first bonus point win of the season when they beat early strugglers Keswick 36-0 away from home. Adam Boyd, James Maddrell, Mike Dunnett, Phil Plaatjies, Jordan Hogan and Carl Murray all went in for Douglas tries with Boyd adding three conversions.
Ramsey fall to another big defeat
Ramsey continue to find the going tough in Lancs/Cheshire Division 1. Normally unbeatable at Mooragh Park, they went down 57-14 to visitors Congleton. Ramsey leaked early tries and found themselves 36-9 adrift by half time with three Scott Kneale penalties keeping them just about in the game. The home defence held out for twenty minutes in the second half and Congleton extended the lead to 57-9. A late try from Dan Bonwick was little consolation.
Vagabonds win on the road
Vagas won 36-8 away at Mossley hill to claim a bonus point win on the road. John Reilly, Mark Oldfield, Steve Gawne, James Clarke and Tom Gascoyne all went in for Vagas tries with Cameron Findlay kicking a penalty and three conversions.
Douglas Celts draw first blood in Manx Shield big game
The Shield tilted towards Douglas Celts as they beat rivals Southern Nomads 29-7 at King Williams College. Conor McCaughan, Mike Osborn, and Guy Wood all crossed for Douglas with Craig Martin bagging a brace. McCaughan also kicked two conversions. For Nomads Rob Craine went in for the try with George Collister adding a conversion.
In the only other Shield game Castletown beat Emerging Nomads 66-19 at Poulsom Park. Kunal Patel ran in three for Town with Mick Shipley getting two. Other tries came from Morgan Armstrong-Paton, Jack Goodwin, Conor Coulthard and veteran Dave Emmett, with Shipley converting eight from nine. Matt Dawson, Ian Marks and Juan Kneen all went in for Nomads with Ari Ludford-Brooks converting two.
