Mechanical issues with machines behind decision
Experienced TT competitor, Sam West has called time on his campaign at the 2026 races.
In an update this morning (30 May), the rider from Congleton says mechanical issues with his Superstock and Supersport machines have been ongoing since the North West 200 earlier this month.
He adds whilst they've 'given it everything' to resolve the problems, he and his team have run out of time with qualifying now at an end.
This was West's tenth appearance at the TT - he adds his efforts will now go towards other road racing events such as the Southern 100 Road Races on the Isle of Man in July; the Armoy Road Races in Northern Ireland in the same month and the Macau Grand Prix later in the year.
On social media, the competitor says he arrived from the North West 200 'on the back foot' where his Ducati Supersport machine developed an 'intermittent electrical fault' and a small crash on his BMW Superstock caused engine damage.
Furthermore, West has revealed the Ducati needs new parts and the BMW requires a spare engine.
