Tennis: 38 players continue Island Championships battle

Doubles success so far for Faragher in women's and mixed

Thirty-eight players have begun their campaign to become Isle of Man tennis champion.

The Island Tennis Championships got underway on Saturday continued on Sunday and Monday with 38 matches played so far in the early stages of the tournament.
 
Sarah Long tops the Ladies Singles group after 3 matches having dropped only 4 games, with Charlotte Clarke also winning 3 matches and dropping 5 games. 
 
In the Men’s Singles, Rob Comber and Nerijus Gricevicius have progressed with two more matches to play on Tuesday night; the same night Garreth Roome will take on MichaelSaabye Katkjaer, while Jabrane Moutiq takes on Herman Oberholzer for the last two spots.
 
In the Ladies Doubles Karen Faragher / Sarah Long and Susan Boot / Michaela Duchonova have both won their opening matches.
 
And after initial matches in the Men’s Doubles Sean Drewry / Rob Comber have won their group and Marc Chinn and Craig Blackwell have done the same in theirs.
 
Marc Chinn / Karen Faragher are also dominating in the Mixed Doubles, they'll progress to the semi finals alongside Sean Drewry / Sarah Long.
 
Play is continuing every evening this week with the semi finals and final being played this weekend. (7 Aug)
