Landowner concerned over lack of maintenance on waterway
A significant build-up of gravel and tree debris in the River Glass poses a serious flood risk to homeowners and businesses in Tromode.
That's the view of the owner of Castleward Farm who has owned the land through which the river passes for more than 30 years.
Alf Caine claims a lack of maintenance by the Department of Infrastructure has brought out major deterioration despite his own efforts to remove debris and vegetation from the waterway.
Mr Caine says government's view - that maintenance is the responsibility of landowners - runs contrary to its own legislation:
