Minister says legalisation of cannabis 'complex issue'
Up to £2.5 million pounds could be raised in tax revenue from a policy to legalize the production and sale of cannabis on the Island.
That's the belief of Ramsey MHK Alex Allinson.
He asked the Treasury Minister if his department had carried out its own calculations to come up with a potential revenue. Mr Cannan said it hadn't.
But Dr Allinson provided his own figures.
The Treasury Minister said whilst he was always interested in ways to diversify the economy, the legalisation of cannabis was a complex issue, with many potential problems.
