Govt claims move will pay for itself over time
A major project to turn public services digital has cost almost £2 million in the last year.
The figure was revealed in response to a question in the House of Keys from Onchan MHK Julie Edge.
A total of £5 million has been budgeted for government's Digital Strategy, which has seen tens of thousands of records digitised, and several services moved online.
But government chiefs insist the move will in fact pay for itself over time.
Digitising patients' healthcare records has been one of the most expensive facets of the Strategy, at a cost of just over £800,000.
