Bus station on Lord Street sees minimum rise of 20%
The Department of Infrastructure says price rises at a Douglas car park, have been planned for some time.
Charges at the bus station car park on Lord Street, have gone up to £3 for four hours and £5.50 for 24 hours.
The £3 charge marks a rise of 20%, whereas the £5.50 cost is a 25% hike.
In a statement the DoI says Douglas car park charges last rose five years ago, and a "review last year took into account rates applied elsewhere in the town."
It adds that "in line with policy, notices appeared in local newspapers in December 2018 informing people about the proposed changes, and attracted no objections."
The department says the "extra revenue" will be put towards maintaining the Parade Street East, Parade Street West and Tongue car parks.
