City Librarian hopes to organise a celebration of facility's history
Preparations are underway for the 140th anniversary of Douglas City Library.
The library was founded in 1886 on Ridgeway Street before being relocated in 2003 to Victoria Street and then moved to its current location on Duke Street in 2016.
There are hopes to organise a celebration of the facility's history in November, when it has its official birthday, with an afternoon tea to thank its regular visitors.
City Librarian Jan McCartney says the biggest change she's seen in her time is the way people view the library as a community space.
