Raising awareness of help available
It's Eating Disorders Awareness Week from Monday.
On average, 149 weeks pass before those experiencing eating disorder symptoms seek help.
However, it's known that the sooner someone gets the treatment they need, the more likely they are to make a full and fast recovery.
The week aims to improve the services available, raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of an eating disorder and encourage people to take action
On the Isle of Man, the charity Manx Eating Disorder Support is dedicated to supporting individuals to make positive changes, using a therapeutic approach and without judgement.
Chair and co-founder of the group Georgie Shelley says with the right treatment, full recovery is possible, and she says people shouldn't suffer in silence: (play audio)
The week runs until Sunday, 4 March.
