Advice and support available through smartphones
Manx students are being offered a free app to help them stay safe online, including how to block comments from virtual bullies.
It's been piloted by the Department of Education, Sport and Culture and rolled out across the Isle of Man.
'The Safer Schools' app is designed help young people, teachers, parents and carers to understand online challenges and risks, and how they can be navigated.
It gives information on how to report worrying content, advice on how to make a devices safe, and ways to speak to children and young people about online risk.
The app is based on the combined expertise of safeguarding professionals, and has been insured by Zurich Municipal.
Alerts and prompts are sent in real time by developers to keep users updated, with the app also in use by schools across the UK.
