UK peer advocates bicameral Tynwald
A UK peer tasked with reforming the Manx parliament says he supports the principle of the Legislative Council.
It's ahead of a key debate in Tynwald next week over what should be done about the report, by Lord Robert Lisvane.
Among his 11 recommendations are redefining the upper chamber's role - increasing its diversity, ridding it of sitting MHKs, and blocking members from voting on matters of tax or in chief minister's elections.
But Lord Lisvane says he generally supports the Island's bicameral structure:
Mountain Road to stay closed overnight
BMA finds less than a quarter of doctors recommend working at Manx Care
Thirteen people entered or tried to enter the Island without immigration permission since January 2025
Abuse towards bus drivers 'will not be tolerated'
