Douglas Council leader speaks out
You can’t cherry pick elements of the law.
That’s the warning from the leader of Douglas Council as the local authority registration row gathers pace.
After taking legal advice, Douglas Corporation last month excluded a member of the council for not being on the voters’ register.
Ramsey and Port St Mary Commissioners have since followed suit with three of their board members not on the electoral roll.
Despite the infrastructure minister and other local authorities who have taken legal advice saying the regulations are open to interpretation, Council Leader David Christian claims the law is crystal clear:
