£1,350 fine and two-year ban imposed
A court's heard a Douglas man was found to be almost twice the legal limit after driving to a shop to buy alcohol.
Fifty-three-year-old George Miroslav Novak of Ballanard Woods appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.
He admitted drink driving on 18 July.
Prosecution advocate Hazel Carroon told the court Novak went to the Bray Hill petrol station at around 11:15pm.
Staff at the shop noticed he smelled strongly of alcohol and appeared to be drunk.
Novak bought a bottle of wine and a bottle of whisky before getting back into his Audi and driving away, prompting workers to call police.
He was arrested at his home around an hour later and taken to police headquarters, where testing equipment showed he was almost twice the legal alcohol limit.
He was banned from the roads for two years, fined £1,350 and ordered to pay £125 towards prosecution costs.
