Minister to speak at PAG gathering tonight
Outline proposals to increase means-testing in the Island will be debated at a public meeting in Douglas tonight (Monday).
It's been organised by the Positive Action Group, with Policy and Reform Minister Chris Thomas, who's published a consultation paper on the issue, the guest speaker.
The document sets out five key principles for much wider means-testing than exists at present - which could be applied in areas from welfare benefits and education to health care.
PAG is concerned the issue is linked to plans for a single, digital resident record - and a card-based system for benefits.
Mr Thomas says the previous government had already taken steps down the means-testing road:
The meeting at Manx Legion Club in Douglas is free and open to all, and it starts at 7.30 pm.
