Group opposes plans to shorten horse tram route
A lobby group is planning to launch a crowdfunding campaign to fight the Department of Infrastructure over its proposals for the redevelopment of Douglas promenade.
Julian Nutter, secretary of the Manx Electric Railway Society, says the group will raise the funds to help them oppose the shortening of the horse tramway.
Mr Nutter says MHKs have been 'led down the garden path' about the proposals and has accused the DoI of having a hidden agenda on the issue.
The redevelopment plans were narrowly defeated in Tynwald last week - a combined vote will now be held in January after the two chambers were divided on the issue.
Mr Nutter says the MERS will continue fight for the preservation of the tramway.
