Search now classed as recovery operation
Police say they are now almost certain that a young man who went missing in Ramsey early on New Year's Day fell into the harbour.
Officers say CCTV footage shows a man they believe to be 19 year old Josh Caley falling into the water just after 1am yesterday (Fri) close to the Mezeron Shipping Company on the East Quay.
A forty strong search team including police, coastguard, civil defence and fire and rescue searched through the night for the teenager after the alarm was raised by his family. He failed to return home after a night out in the town on New Year's Eve.
Police say this is now undoubtedly a search and recovery operation and a co-coordinated search of the harbour and surrounding area will continue today (Sat)
Isle of Man Coastguard is also helping search the beaches close to Ramsey harbour.
Members of the public are being thanked for their help in the matter and are asked to contact emergency services if they see anything.
Access to parts of Ramsey harbour may be restricted during the day as the search continues.
Officers say their thoughts are with Josh's parents at this very sad time.
