DoI says restrictions will be in place until next week
Motorists are being asked to slow down and drive to the temporary speed limits on roads which are in the process of being resurfaced.
The Department of Infrastructure says a number of roads were treated yesterday (27 June) after delays caused by the hot weather.
These include:
- Ramsey Coast Road, Garff (from the northern boundary of Laxey to Bulgham Corner)
- St Judes to Andreas Road (St Judes to the junction with the Leodest Road)
- Arbory Road, Castletown (between the junction with Farrants Way and the junction with the Castletown Bypass)
- Main Road, Colby (Between junction with Croit Y Caley and junction with Glen Road, Colby)
- Bowring Road/Andreas Road, Ramsey (Between the junctions with Jurby Road and Bride Road)
Work is continuing today (28 June) on
- • Beinn Y Phott Road (between Mountain Road and Sartfell Road junctions)
- • Lonan Church Road (from Church Close to the junction with the Creg Ny Baa Back Road) this afternoon.
Each of the sites has 20mph signs in place whilst the new surface ‘beds in’.
They will be swept a number of times over the next few days to remove excess aggregate before being encapsulated next week to lock in the newly dressed surface.
A spokesperson for Highway Services said: “Please slow down and take heed of the advised maximum speeds which are in place for everyone's safety.
“This is especially relevant to Beinn Y Phott Road which can also be subject to reduced visibility due to hill mist.
“The advised speed reductions will be in place until after the new surfaces have been encapsulated later next week.”
