Gunner killed on cargo ship 'Mary Baird' in 1917
100 years ago today - a Manx gunner was killed when his ship hit a mine off the Cornish coast.
Cargo ship 'Mary Baird' carried 37-year-old Douglas man William Henry Clucas of the Royal Naval Reserves - who was working between Newport in South Wales and Rouen in France when it floundered.
He was one of seven men to lose their lives when it was hit by falling debris.
Pat Owers is his Granddaughter - she's just discovered his final letter.
Speaking from her home in Brighton, she says today (Thursday) is a day for reflection:

Annual Tynwald Day celebrations to get underway
Sharp rise in data breaches on Island, says Information Commissioner's Office
Some pubs to stay open for early-hours England match
Tynwald to revisit rates bill after the election
Douglas Council to install temporary play area in Marine Gardens
