ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, has published a full list of new domain suffixes that could be brought in as early as next year.
But while cities like Stockholm applied for their own version of a dot-com, no applications were received for Manx domains.
Industry experts say the cost of applications - £118,000 plus tens of thousands more per year to run them – has put many applicants off.
