Obscene graffiti on whiteboards and wooden sheds put the playground out of bounds for pupils at a Douglas primary school.
St Thomas' Church of England school in Finch Hill was attacked overnight on Thursday.
Police say two people entered the playground and scored the graffiti on the surfaces.
They also broke a window of one of the sheds and disturbed the trikes, bikes and toys inside.
The children had to stay indoors until the words had been removed.
Anybody who knows who was responsible is asked to ring Police Headquarters on 631212, or the anonymous Crimestoppers line, on 0800 555 111.
