The Deparment of Transport is stressing the proposal to dump sewage pellets at Wright's Pit North is only a contingency plan.
Earlier this week Bride Commissioners said they were 'horrified' at the prospect of around 400 tons of pellets from the Meary Veg treatment plant being buried there each year.
But Director of Drainage Peter Winstanley says it's highly unlikely it would ever happen.
He says the Waste Operations Management of DoLGE has only applied for a licence in case disposal to farmland or the Energy from Waste Plant isn't available.
A public meeting has been called next week to debate the issue.
