The politician tasked with saving £5 million in just 12 months admits he’s going to be unpopular with many.
Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne was speaking after he unveiled a raft of proposals to increase parking charges.
They include a 50p increase in several Douglas car parks; the introduction of charges for civil servants and politicians; a 50p charge for school bus journeys; the introduction of a pay-and-display system on Douglas Promenade and the axing of half an hour free parking at Ronaldsway airport.
Mr Gawne says, following public consultation, they are necessary moves in the financial climate.
