Manx students choosing French, Spanish, German at a record low
One of the Island's secondary schools is aiming to reverse the downturn in students choosing to study a foreign language.
Ramsey Grammar, along with all the Island's schools, recorded the lowest uptake of French, German and Spanish ever this year.
However, it claims to have doubled the amount of language learners for the next school year.
Figures released after a freedom of information request showed there had been 50% decline in the last decade, mirroring the situation in the UK.
Along with offering languages at GCSE and A Level, Ramsey Grammar also has a sixth form enrichment programme which comes with potential vocational qualifications.
