Follows calls for public vote on Assisted Dying Bill
An MHK has questioned whether a move by Ayre and Michael MHK Alfred Cannan for a referendum on the Assisted Dying Bill should have been suggested much earlier.
Douglas South MHK Sarah Maltby says she was surprised by Mr Cannan's announcement in the House of Keys this week that he was intending to bring forward an amendment which could see the legislation put to a public vote.
Mrs Maltby says she also suspects the current Referendum Act, which is over 40 years old, may need changes.
