The legal age people can get married on the Isle of Man is one of the things currently under review.
Civil registration legislation is being examined by the Central Registry in conjunction with the Attorney General's Chambers.
It comes as the legal age to enter into marriage or civil partnership in England and Wales rose to 18 last week.
A statement from government confirms the age over here is still 16 with parental consent, but adds a review of the legislation is being carried out with a view to propose modernisations which would be decided on by Tynwald.
