If approved, money will go towards road improvements
The Infrastructure minister says not everyone will face a road tax increase, if Tynwald approves the Vehicle Duty Order 2017.
The Order will be discussed by the court at this week's sitting.
Ray Harmer says there hasn't been an increase in the tax for two years, and whilst most motorists will pay more, owners of commercial vehicles will see duty decrease - and electric cars will become exempt.
He adds that the money raised will go directly towards helping improve the state of the Island's roads:

DoI 'willing to assist' in talks over Solway Harvester memorial maintenance
