The basking shark satellite tagging programme WILL continue this season.
Earlier it had been feared that it wouldn't be possible to carry out the valuable research this year due to a lack of funding.
In recent years the satellite tagging programme carried out by Manx Basking Shark Watch has provided unique information on the sharks' behaviour after they leave Manx waters.
Jackie Hall from MBSW says at the eleventh hour some funding has been obtained and the programme can now continue in 2012
